Each December, Turner Classic Movies gifts viewers with a sensational programming schedule filled with classic Christmas movies. I was brimming with holiday spirit when I reviewed my December 2015 issue of Now Playing, TCM's monthly channel guide. Once again, the network had packed their lineup with a wealth of yuletide classics, including comedies, dramas, musicals, and a sampling of Charles Dickens' films for good measure.
Inspired by this wonderful holiday film schedule, I developed an original digital series in the form of a TCM Advent Calendar. I incorporated the cover image of each 2015 issue of Now Playing into my calendar design and placed this element on the left side of my composition. For the right side of my graphic, I zoomed in to a single numbered door on the calendar, one door for each day leading up to Christmas. The individual doors were opened to reveal an original GIF that showcased a memorable moment from one of the films in TCM's holiday lineup. Throughout December 2015, I shared these designs with the TCM online community using the hashtag #TCMAdventCalendar.
